Chad White graduated from Brewer High School in 1989 and brings with him an impressive resume from his baseball playing career at Brewer High, the University of Maine and beyond. His former coach at Brewer, Dennis Kiah says Chad White was “one of the best baseball players to ever play for Brewer High.” White was the first winner at BHS of the “Gatorade Player of the Year” for the State of Maine in 1989. In 1989, he was also named the Maine Sunday Telegram Baseball Player of the Year as well as the USA Today Athlete of the Year while also being named “First Team All-State” in Class A Football as a wide receiver leading the state with 50 pass receptions. White also played on the Eastern Maine Championship 1988 Boys’ Basketball squad coming off the bench to score 16 points in the Eastern Maine Championship game.  White hit 7 home runs as a junior in helping Brewer win its first Eastern Maine Championship in baseball in 1988. As a senior in 1989, White also helped to lead Brewer to the Eastern Maine finals again, hitting .530 with a pitching record of 6-0. In 1989 he was the second leading scorer in the Big East Basketball Conference his senior year, making the All Conference Team and was selected to play in the MacDonald’s East West All Star Game.

In the summer of 1989, White helped to lead the Brewer Falcons American Legion Baseball Team (26-5) to the Maine State Championship. He hit .514 and was 5-1 as a pitcher. He was selected to the American Legion All Tournament Team. After losing a heart breaking 3-2 loss to Connecticut in the Northeast Regional playoffs, White had the opportunity to sign a free agent, professional baseball contract as an outfielder with the Houston Astros or as a pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals. He declined both offers and decided to go to the prestigious Division 1 baseball program at the University of Maine. He was named the Maine Amateur Baseball Player of the Year that summer.

White went on to play baseball at the University of Maine from 1990-1993 where he was named a Division 1 “All-American” in 1993. He started in the outfield all four years and he is second all-time at UMaine in career games played at 225 games. He was the left fielder on the 1991 team which was 48-18 setting a UMaine record for games won in a single season. He played center field the last two years while at the same time becoming a switch hitter. He was selected as a tri-captain during his senior year during which he lead the team with a batting average of .354 while setting a single season record of stolen bases with 35 and career record for triples with 11. In his senior year, he was selected the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year and All New England First Team.

White was drafted by the Houston Astros in 1993 and played in the New York-Penn, Class A League. During the week of July 11-17, 1993 he was named the Minor League Player of the Week. In 1994 he was promoted to the Florida State League. In 1995 he played in the Midwest League and then was promoted to Houston’s Double AA team in Texas-Louisiana League. White ended his professional days playing two years for the Bangor Blue Ox in the Northeast Independent League.

Chad White is also a member of the University of Maine Sports Athletic Hall of Fame and the State of Maine Baseball Hall of Fame.

White now lives in Bangor, Maine with his wife Michelle and daughters Jessica and Kelsey.  He owns CMJ Construction, Inc. which installs playgrounds for schools, recreation departments and other facilities throughout New England. He has installed many of the area playgrounds including those in Brewer.
