Brewer Boys’ Lacrosse Team Rules
-
Respect: Show Respect for yourself, your teammates, coaches, parents and spectators, plus the other teams and Lacrosse Traditions. Foul language will not be tolerated, including degrading comments about females or sexuality.
-
If you need to miss a practice, you need to notify the coaches in advance for it to be an Excused Absence. Legitimate reasons to miss practice include: illness, academic appointments, family situations that require your participation, job interviews, etc. The sooner we know you will be missing, the better for everyone else. Unexcused absences may result in loss of playing time or suspension.
-
Your Captains are your connection between you and the coaches. Captains have the right to address officials during a game (such as respectfully requesting an explanation of penalty).
-
Players are responsible for keeping your own stick in good operating condition BEFORE practice. We should try to have a spare stick in case of breakage. If this or other equipment requirements pose a financial hardship, please contact the coaches privately.
-
Water. Players are responsible for bringing their own water to outdoor practices. Have a bottle that can be identified as belonging to you.
-
Medical conditions should be discussed with coaches, trainer and school nurse (such as allergies, asthma, etc.)
-
Respect for advice given by coaches. Coaches coach; players play.
-
Disrespect by players for coaches and your fellow mates will not be tolerated.
-
Punctuality. Players are expected to be on the field fully dressed and ready to participate at the beginning of practice time, and on time for bus to games.
It is vital that players give maximum effort in practice. We are trying to duplicate game conditions at full speed in most drills and scrimmages. This is how we develop the ability to compete and build our lacrosse skills and stamina.
We plan to field both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. Criteria for making the team include:
-
Sportsmanship.
-
Team spirit and team work.
-
Athletic ability.
-
Hard work.
-
Willingness to take instructions from coaches.
-
Respect for yourself, coaches, teammates, referees, parents, school administrators, teachers and players and coaches from other teams.
